BOWER, Manus Gerald – 59, of Upper Ohio passed away at home with his partner, Shelley, by his side on Sunday. Manus/”Jerry” was the son of Gerald and the late Annie (Young) Bower of the same place. He attended the Upper Ohio School, Sandy Point Elementary, and graduated from Shelburne Regional High and the Shelburne Vocational School. In his earlier life, he was actively involved in 4-H and Scouts Canada, and, later, he became a member of the Shelburne Lions Club and the Middle/Upper Ohio Volunteer Fire Dept. For a while, he worked at Ven-Rez and the Long Lake Lumber Company and later in the woods, with his father, where he was able to utilize his pair of oxen; his favourite hobby. Jerry loved going hunting, fishing, and attending the Shelburne Co. Exhibition. He is survived by his common law partner, Shelley Williams and her children, his father, Gerald, and his foster brother, Danny Menard. Jerry was predeceased by his mother, Annie, grandparents Manus/Dora Bower, Calvin/Edma Young, and two of his uncles, Prince and Norman, who lived in the same household. There was no visitation or funeral at the request of the family but a celebration of his life took place at the Middle Ohio Hall on Sunday, August 3, at 2 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Middle/Upper Ohio Volunteer Fire Dept., the Autism Association Nova Scotia, or a charity of your choice.
