BENNETT, Alex Stanley – 59, Truro, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, August 5, 2014, at The Mira Long Term Care Facility, Truro. Born February 9, 1955, in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, he was a son of the late William and Blanche (Anderson) Bennett. Alex is survived by his siblings, Cecil (Florence) Bennett, Mount Moriah, Newfoundland; Willie (Shirley) Bennett, Moncton, New Brunswick; Gordon (Maisie) Bennett, Gillams, Newfoundland; Les (Marie) Bennett, David (Melissa) Bennett, Irishtown, Newfoundland; Ruby Bennett, Bible Hill; Ruth (George) Naugler, Truro; Alice (Willis “Bill”) Dorey, Maplewood; Verdon (Inez) Bennett, Fort Nelson, British Columbia; Frederick (Hilda) Bennett, Irishtown, Newfoundland; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Mary Alice, Chesley and Millard in infancy, and also his sister, Lily Mae (Coiley) Marche. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Alex’s family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, August 7, 2014, and where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, August 8, 2014.
