Mabel Eagles
EAGLES, MABEL - Our hearts are broken to announce the passing of our dear mother Mabel Beulah Eagles, who peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on December 15, 1922 in Saint John, NB to the late Flora and Robert Crilley, she was the wife of the late James Eagles. Mabel was a devout Christian, completely devoted to her faith and as a lifelong “North Ender” she was a beloved lifetime member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and valued member of the Catholic Women’s League. She was known as “The Queen” for her ability to bring all her family together. Mabel was known for her kindness and generosity, her class and sass, her tendency to be the boss, but her family and friends will always remember her for her love and her smile, which she gave so freely. Mabel would do anything for anyone and that earnestness will never be forgotten. Mabel will always be remembered by her loving daughters: Ann (Bruce) Ackland, Linda (Allan) LeBlanc, Susan (Robie) Smith, Cathy Eagles and Brenda Eagles; sons: James (Linda), David (Sharon), Brian (Brenda), and Donald Eagles; her beautiful, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister Laura Mills, and brother David Crilley. Along with her parents and husband, Mabel was predeceased by her grandson Bruce Ackland Jr., sister Mary Ross, and brothers Donald and John Crilley.
Arrangements are under the direction and care of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424), with visitation held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 9, 2014 from St. Peter’s Catholic Church at 10 am. Interment to follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Palliative Care Unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital, the Kidney Foundation, or the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. We would like to thank the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital for the warm, loving and great care you gave our mother, making her last week’s peaceful, comfortable and with love. Mabel, your family wishes you many more shopping adventures along your next journey.
