OH! GOD YOU’VE BEEN GOOD TO ME
Once in the morning
And once in the night
And sometimes in between
I say a prayer and thank my God,
For all he’s given me.
Years of good health
An ethic for work
Two blessings bestowed on me
And now in old age
I’m singing His praise
Oh! God you’ve been good to me.
In the days of my youth
When winning was all
I had a few wins
And I had a few falls
Now youth is a short span
In the life of a man
But Oh! My God you’ve made mine so grand.
I’ve had a good life
And I had a good wife
Five offspring, we’re mighty proud
Now out on their own
With values taught at home
Oh! God you’ve been good to me.
I’ve had my share of mourning
And sorrow and grief are no stranger to me
But I had my God to share the load
Oh! God you’ve been good to me.
