At the Palliative Care Unit of Prince County Hospital on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, of Rita Bernard of Borden-Carleton, aged 94 years. Born in Miminegash on Sept. 17, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Prosper Bernard and Mary (Arsenault) Bernard. Survived by her sons and daughters Danny (Debbie), Borden-Carleton; Donna, Borden-Carleton; Howie (Charlotte) of Woodstock, N.B.; Barrie of Mississauga, Ont.; Blake of Burlington, Ont.; Ricky (Ann Marie), Sturgeon, P.E.I.; Pam of Borden-Carleton; John (Beryl) of Borden-Carleton and son-in-law Urban Allen of Murray Corner, N.B. Also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and by sisters, Doris A’hearn, Burlington, Ont., and Edna MacMaster, Calgary, Alta. Predeceased by daughter Joann Allen (Bernard) and by sisters, Clara Keough, Augusta (Gussie) McInnis and by brothers, Nelson and Francis (Smokey) Bernard. Resting at Lawless Funeral Home, Kinkora. Visiting hours Tuesday, Aug. 26, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Wednesday, Aug. 27, at St. Peter’s Church, Seven Mile Bay, with funeral mass at 10:30 am.
