McLAUGHLIN, MADELINE - It is with heavy hearts that the family of Madeline Gertrude McLaughlin announces her passing at York Care Centre in her 90th year. Madeline was born in Mineral, NB and was the daughter to the late Ambrose and Elizabeth (Bohen) Doherty and wife to the late Stanley William McLaughlin. Madeline was a devout Catholic, rarely missing Mass. She loved her nursing career and was very dedicated. After graduating from St. Joseph’s Hospital in Saint John, she spent some time in private duty. She worked at the Victoria Public Hospital, Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, and the Veteran’s Health Unit before her retirement. Madeline is survived by her seven loving children, Paul (Monique Leblanc), Peter (Cathy), David (Shawn Dalton), Diane Fraser (the late Bruce), Judy Blinn (Jim), Cathy Cogswell (David), Lynn Phillips (Mark); 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Joseph (Lynda) and sister-in-law, Gertrude McLaughlin. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Stanley; brothers, Louis and Gerald; and sisters, Patricia, Marie, Peggy and Retia.
Visitation will be held at McAdam’s Funeral Home, 160 York Street, Fredericton, NB on Friday, September 5th, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Dunstan’s Catholic Church on Saturday, September 6th, 2014 at 11:00 am with Fr. Bill Brennan as celebrant. For those who wish, memorial tributes may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, CNIB or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences can be left at www.mcadamsfh.com.
