James Wilfred Smith

JAMES (JIM) WILFRED SMITH March 18, 1938 – September 8, 2014 (Retired from Bell Canada Enterprises) passed peacefully surrounded by his family at Toronto's E.W. Bickle Centre in his 76th year.

Beloved husband of 47 years to Theresa (Gallant), devoted father to Cherie (spouse Erich Jelesits), Jamey (spouse Anne-Marie Minifie) and Matthew and a proud grandfather to Benjamin and David. Jim will be greatly missed by his brothers Kevin and Wilfred and sisters Elaine Sullivan and Carla (predeceased by Theresa and Louis) and the rest of his family and friends.

Born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Jim had a smile that was easy going, just like his lifestyle. His wit was contagious to all that knew him.

James attended Queen Square School and St. Dunstan’s University in Charlottetown. He moved to Toronto in the 1960s where he retired from Bell Canada in 1997. He then worked as a bus driver for special needs kids for First Student for over 10 years.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 11th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Newediuk Funeral Home at 2058 Kipling Avenue in Toronto.

The funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, September, 12th at 10:30 a.m. at Nativity of Our Lord Parish located at 480 Rathburn Road in Etobicoke.
