WATTS, MYRTLE FRANCES – It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Myrtle Frances Watts of Saint John, wife of the late Frederick James Watts, which occurred on September 15, 2014 at Church of St. John and St. Stephen Nursing Home. Born in Saint John on July 16, 1911, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Jennie (Reicker) Conley. Myrtle was a lifelong member of Portland United Church, UCW, the Daughters of the Nile, and the Eastern Star No. 14, and also Past Matron. She served on the Advisory Board Assembly No. 1 Order of Rainbow for Girls. Myrtle was an avid bridge player. She is survived by her daughters, Doreen White (Murray) and Jean Flewelling; nine grandchildren, Rick McAlary, Sandra Lacer, Kathy McLaughlin, Marilyn Parish, Stephen White, Peter White, Chandra Flewelling, Allan Flewelling and Lynn Small; twenty-four great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Joy Conley; several nieces and nephews. Myrtle was the last surviving member of her immediate family, she was predeceased by her parents, daughter, Margaret Briggs, siblings, Harold Conley (Alice), John Conley (Margaret), Annie Conley, Margaret Conley, Rolley Conley (Helen), Ralph Conley (Dorothy), Frank Conley and Donald Conley; one grandchild, Keith Briggs; two sons-in-law, Gordon Briggs and Robert Flewelling.
Arrangements are under the care of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). In keeping with Myrtles Wishes there will be no formal visitation. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at 2:00 PM from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Internment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Fred J. Watts Memorial Fund of Portland United Church or any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
