It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Lorraine Marjorie Bonhomme (nee Roberts), on Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at Maison Vale Hospice, at the age of 83, following a difficult battle with cancer.
She was predeceased by her parents, William A. Roberts and Lillian Hodges, her elder brother, Louis (Phyllis) and her loving husband, Conrad.
She will be remembered fondly by her children, Doug (Debbie) of Sudbury, Alan of Los Angeles, California, Lisa (Hector Ciccone) of Timmins, Lilianne of Sudbury, Tim of Los Angeles, California, Joe (Shalene) of Sudbury and Pierre of Sudbury. She was a cherished grandmother to Chandra, Brittany (Sean), William (Melanie), Tessa, Tara, Nicholas, Brett, Gabe, Connor and Alex, and great-grandmother to Danika and Liliane. She is survived by her siblings, Doug (Joan), William (Mary), Iris (Leo McNamara) and Brian (Bunny), as well as her dear friend, Shirley Clements.
Born in Glace Bay, N.S. in 1931, Lorraine was a Maritimer through and through. Many friends, acquaintances, and even strangers, have experienced her hospitality, kindness and generous spirit over the years. She was known for the cozy slippers she enjoyed knitting for her family, friends and numerous times for the Canadian Olympic Women’s Hockey team. She had a fondness for Long Lake where she spent the twilight of her life, entertaining her loved ones, appreciating her surroundings, and rescuing stray cats and mangy foxes. Lorraine was an incredible woman whose infectious smile, steadfast courage and adventurous spirit will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
