Lowell Ferguson
FERGUSON, Lowell Wendell- 79, Caribou River passed away peacefully on September 27, 2014 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow while surrounded by his family. Sweet and gentle, kind and generous, funny and wise, no wonder we loved Lowell. Born on Pictou Island on August 15th. 1935, he was the son of the late Arthur L. & Mary Catherine (MacCallum) Ferguson. Lowell's family will always cherish him as a husband, a father, a grandfather, an uncle, a friend, a Pictou Islander, a boilermaker, a fiddle player, and a wonderful man. He loved his grandchildren and they affectionately referred to him as 'Grampy'. He is survived by his wife Jean (Sutherland) Ferguson; daughter Shan McNeill (Ian), Ontario; grandchildren, Christie and Ben and many nephews, nieces and cousins. Lowell was predeceased by sisters, Thelma, Janie, Marjorie, and Almida; brothers, Ken, Louis, Vernon and Arthur. Much loved, sorely missed, and forever in our hearts. Visitation will be from 2-4 & 7-9 PM Monday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday from St. David’s Presbyterian Church, Toney River, with Rev. Gregory Dickson officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. Burial will be in Seaview Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in his memory may be made to St. David’s Presbyterian Church, Toney River, or a charity of your choice.
