It is with broken hearts we announce the sudden passing of Bernard Charles Marsh, 44, on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014 at his home in Regina, Sask.
Born May 15, 1970 in New Waterford, Bernie was the son of Dorothy ‘Dot' MacKinnon and the late Bernie Marsh.
Along with his mother, he is survived by his stepfather, Bernie McLellan; brothers, John, Etobicoke and Jeff (Debbie), Kitchener; sister-in-law, Iris Feit, Oakville; nephew, James Marsh and niece, Kylie Marsh; godparents, Linda and Pat Lovell and special aunt, Olive Tonary.
Devoted son and friend of many, Bernie will be greatly missed for his quick wit and sense of humour. Bernie attended Breton Education Centre and graduated from Nova Scotia Community College in Port Hawkesbury. A proud tradesman, Bernie was a pipefitter belonging to Local 682.
Besides his father, Bernie was predeceased by grandparents, John and Margaret Marsh, Charles and Ada MacKinnon and step-grandparents, John and Agnes McLellan.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Oct. 8 from 6-9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A celebration of his life will take place Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Plummer Avenue, New Waterford. Donations in his memory may be made to the Cape Breton District Health Authority, Addiction Services.
