We regret to announce the death of Ian Murray MacRae of Alderwood Nursing Home, Baddeck on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014.
He was born in Port Bevis to the late George and Janie (MacDonald) MacRae on Sept. 2, 1933.
Murray resided for much of his youth and later years in Middle River with his grandmother Dolena MacRae; she was a great influence in his life and he always spoke about her kindness and love to him. He was a kind soul who enjoyed being out and about walking and talking to people he met along the way, he loved his fiddle music and especially enjoyed a good meal.
Predeceased by his parents; a brother, Maurice MacRae; niece, Carol Ann Guy; his Aunt Maggie MacPherson; with whom he resided after the death of his grandmother.
Murray is survived by sisters, Dorothy Ellsworth, Baddeck; Isabel (Robin) Grant, North Sydney and also by brothers, Carl (Rita) MacRae, Sydney Mines; Harold (Sheila) MacRae, Halifax and many nieces and nephews.
Murray will be sadly missed by friends Dolly, Geraldine and especially Wayne Murphy whom he befriended during his time at Heritage House in Port Hood.
Cremation has taken place; visitation will be held from 10 a.m. on Thursday until noon at Farquharson Memorial Presbyterian Church in Middle River with funeral service commencing immediately afterwards, Reverend Brian MacLeod officiating. Family flowers only please; donations in memory may be made to the Alderwood Bus Fund, Farquharson Memorial Church or charity of choice.

A special thank you to the staff of Hillside at Alderwood for their care and kindness to Murray during his time there and especially during these last months of his illness.
Rest well Murray our dear, dear friend; the hard work is done!! May God grant you eternal rest and joy!!
