Dietmar Fliegel

Dietmar Fliegel

Date de décès : 18 août 2014

Fliegel – Dietmar Wilhelm born December 16, 1959, passed away after a courageous battle on August 18, 2014 at the age of 54 at the Regina General Hospital with family by his side. Dietmar was born and in Heubach, Germany. Already at a young age he showed signs of having a green thumb, plus a great love for animals and the outdoors. In July of 1968, with his parents, Dietmar immigrated to Canada and made their home in Swift Current, SK. In his teenage years he struggled in school so he decided to enter the workforce at the age of 15. One of his most memorable workplaces was Ed Look Pontiac/Buick where he gained knowledge of the automotive industry. This is also where he began to excel in the autobody trade. For the next 25 years with numerous other employers, he was an expert autobody tradesman. In 1999 he contemplated a healthier work trade and a few years later he started his own landscaping/snow removal business. He could spend countless hours growing plants from seed and watching them grow into beautiful, mature plants. He had the ability to envision what a yard would look like from beginning to end. To see the smiles on peoples faces filled him with extreme pride of a job well done. He was very meticulous in his work and never let any details escape his mind, whether they were minute or extravagant. Dietmar had numerous hobbies over the years such as building remote control cars and trucks, camping, fishing, woodworking, landscaping, gardening, as well as skidooing. He was also an avid bargain hunter and enjoyed garage sales and great deals online to get his “big toys for boys.” He loved all kinds of animals but in recent years he focused on his budgie, as well as different types of fish in his aquarium. Dietmar treasured the times he spent with his sister, his children, and most of all his grandchildren. He was devoted to his mother’s Pekingese “Asia,” who was his constant companion and travel partner. As we watched you take your last breath, many thoughts were unspoken. Words cannot describe the pain and loss we felt, but knowing you are with loved ones above watching over us gives us a small measure of comfort. You will be sadly missed not only by your sister, children, grandchildren, many friends and clients, but by the many people whose lives you touched. You will forever be remembered and always in our hearts. Dietmar was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Wilhem and Amalie Haas of Heubach, Germany; his parents Erich and Irene Fliegel of Swift Current, SK. He is survived by his children Liz (Chris) Myhre, Mike (Mel) Fliegel, Candace (Craig) Kenny, sister Doreen (Scott McKinney) Fliegel, three grandsons and one granddaughter; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Germany. At his request, no formal service will be held. Memorial donations may be made in Dietmar’s memory to the charity of your choice.
