It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Melvin Quinn, age 91, on Oct. 11, 2014.
Melvin passed away at Harbour View Hospital where he resided the last seven months.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Catherine 'Kay' Francis Jessome in 1999.
Melvin was the son of the late Edward Joseph and Gertrude (Brennan) Quinn. Also late brothers, Richard, Jim and stepbrother, Kevin, sisters, Margaret and Marcella.
He was a Fourth Degree Member of KOC, New Waterford. Melvin was a longtime resident of New Waterford and a former member of St. Agnes Church.
Melvin was born in Sydney and raised in Newfoundland for his younger years where he did farm work. Melvin was employed with Dominion Coal & Co. and Devco in Franklin, Toronto Mine, No. 12, Princess and Lingan where he retired after 40 years.
His hobbies were hunting, playing darts and working on old antique cars.
Melvin will be sadly missed by loving children, daughters, Mary (Andrew) Geddes, Burnaby, B.C., Ann (David) Armsworthy, Sydney River, Delores (Bill) Gouthro, Lower Sackville; sons, Edward (Sandra) Quinn, Bernard, New Waterford, John, Moncton, N.B., Kevin (Minnie), Grand Cache, Alta. Also surviving are cherished grandchildren, Rob (Angel) Geddes, Tammy (Stephen) O'Neil, Kimberly, Melissa Gouthro, Matthew and Adam; great-grandchildren, Story, Mila, Keegan, Shanon, Lexa and Cohen.
Cremation took place and family mass will be held at a later date at St. Leonard Church, New Waterford.
Dad is resting with the Lord.
