It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother, Jean Marie Chisholm, 81, of Sydney Mines. Despite her long battle with cancer she remained positive and uplifting, and even throughout this last difficult year she showed amazing strength, courage and composure. Jean passed away Oct. 26th, in the Northside General Hospital, with her loving family by her side.
Born in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Blanche Hart.
Jean was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Jean had many passions, which included spending time with her children, grandchildren and family. She loved reading and had a strong religious belief. She loved gardening and enjoyed a sweet with her cup of tea.
Survived by six sons and one daughter: Kenneth (Eileen), Douglas (Amelia), Andrew, all of Sydney Mines, N.S., Daniel, Toronto, Paul (Mary), Linda (Michael) and Scott, all of Guelph, Ont.; seven grandchildren, Laurie, Christopher, Shawn, Nicholas, Peter Dylan, Kelsey, Jakob, as well as seven great-grandchildren, Josh, Jonathan, Preston, Kyndra, Blayden and Aryah. She was also survived by brothers, Larry and Gerald as well as sisters, Edna, Shirley, Linda, Mable and Sandra.
Jean was predeceased by husband, Bernard and beloved son, Peter and sisters, Miriam, Madeline; brothers, Roland, Raymond, Douglas, Hugh Alex and David.
Family flowers only, donations can be made to Palliative Care Society at the Northside Hospital.
A family service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 30th at 11 a.m. at Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home, 10 Clyde Ave., Sydney Mines.
