We, the family of Hattie Morrison, regret to announce her sudden, peaceful passing on Monday, Oct. 27, 2014, at the Northside Guest Home.
Born in Ingonish on Feb. 11, 1926, she was the daughter of the late George and Margaret (Young) McGean.
Hattie was an avid dart player, and enjoyed a good game of cards. She also loved to knit, crochet and quilt.
Hattie is survived by her seven children: Rose (Greg McNeil), Moncton, Donelda (Phil Amey), Halifax, Tom (Irene), Grand Cache, Anne (Mike MacDonald), Scotch Lake, Neil (Penny), Hawaii, Donald (Jackie), Riverview, and Pat, Bedford. She also leaves behind her brother, Simon, Ingonish; sisters, Mary Brewer, Ingonish, Adeline Cousins, Sydney Mines, Theresa Robertson, Ingonish and Donna Murphy, Ingonish; 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John; daughter, Jeanne MacPherson, and brothers, Amos, Leo, Jack and Bill.
Visitation for Hattie Morrison will be held in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2014, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A celebration of her life will take place Thursday, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or, with Fr. Peter McLeod officiating. The burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Sydney Mines.
