It is with sadness we announce the passing of Evelyn, mother to Barbara and Wayne, grandmother to Lisa and Joseph, great-grandmother to Chelsey, sister to Aileen and step-brother Evan, aunt to some and a friend to many. Evelyn was treasured by her friends and family.
She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Bill Pallant, brothers Roland, Merrill and Jerry Meuse, nephew Dennis and her step-siblings Charlotte and Lloyd.
Evelyn lived a busy life filled with adventures and travels. Born in Prince Rupert in 1917, her early years were spent in Belleville, Nova Scotia until the passing of her mother at 10 years old, when she and her sister travelled alone by train across Canada to be re-united with their father and new stepmother. The family relocated to West Van and Evelyn set out on her own.
Evelyn had adventures aplenty with her girlfriends. She eventually married Bill in 1939 and began raising her family. They moved for a brief time to the Queen Charlottes, returned to Deep Cove and finally to Kitsilano for 25 years. 
Retiring to Halfmoon Bay on the Sunshine Coast in 1967, they lived in their cottage by the sea. Bill and Evelyn travelled the world, going to England, Europe, Hawaii, Australia and New Zealand, cruised the South Pacific and toured from Alaska to Mexico for six months in their little camper. 
Evelyn enjoyed being creative although she would never acknowledge her skills.  Despite being a lefty, Evelyn’s penmanship, needlepoint and hand-crafted cards are well known. She could make a meal out of anything from land or sea, growing a beautiful garden and always paying special attention to the presentation of everything from the table or herself. She always dressed with style and flair.
In lieu of flowers, please stop and pick a flower. You could press it in a big book, in memory of her. The family would like to thank the second floor care staff at Shorncliffe for their kindness, caring and compassion while keeping her up to date with current affairs.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, 
November 15, at 1 p.m. at Shorncliffe.
