It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Joseph Eric Carey.
Eric was born in Millcreek. He was the son of the late Thomas and Patricia (Harrietha) Carey.
He was employed at the United Farmers Co-op until his retirement.
Eric is survived by his two children, Eric (Cassandra) and Christa MacDonald (Jonathan) also his grandson Ayden Ryan-Carey; the mother of his children Tina Carey-Sacco; one brother Ashley (Karen) and three sisters, Jane Rose (Tom), Judy Saunders (Donnie), Angie Handrahan (Billy); friends Judy Ohandley and Judy Merkley. Eric is also survived by many nieces and nephews of who he was very fond.
He was predeceased by one sister, Barbara Kowalski and two brothers. Greg and Kevin.
In his younger years Eric was an avid hunter and fisherman. Later in life he had a love of the water and spent many days on lobster boats with various friends in Big Bras d’Or spending his last few seasons with close friends Lorne and Colin Fahey.
A service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014, at St. Joseph’s Church Bras d’Or at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Foundation in Eric’s name.
