Age 74, of Hatchet Lake, N.S., passed away peacefully November 2, 2014 at Arborstone Nursing Home in Halifax, N.S.
Born in Belle River, P.E.I., Bill was predeceased by his father, Hector, mother, Sylvia, and stepmother, Mae.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Shirley, of 55 years; sons, Larry (Cindy) and Randy (Colleen), both of Hatchet Lake; daughter, Debbie Vincent (John) of Tantallon; grandchildren, Shaun and Mitchell (Jardine), Shaunalee (Vincent-Slaunwhite); great-granddaughter, Emma; and siblings, Gail (Bob) Hope, Brian, Mary (Mosher) all of Halifax.
Bill spent most of his career in the equipment rental business and in 1978 started Halifax Equipment Rentals, which he built into a successful company and later sold to Hewitt Equipment in 1999 and retired. Bill loved spending time with his family and friends. Some of his many passions were traveling with his wife, spending winters in Florida and trips to the hunting camp with his sons. He enjoyed spending summers at the cottage in P.E.I. visiting family and friends and going to music jams - and did he love to dance!
He will always be remembered as a very caring and giving person who loved to laugh and have fun. He held his friends close to his heart and his family was the most important thing to him, always the center of his life.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation by request. Family flowers only; donations in memory may be made to The Alzheimer's Society or St. James United Church fund: c/o C. Hass No. 211-105 Dunbrack St., Halifax, N.S., B3N 3G7.
A memorial service will be held at St. James United Church, 1078 Prospect Rd. Goodwood on Thursday, November 6 at 1 p.m. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
