Marion I. “Gene” MacLean, age 84, Stellarton, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2014 in Valley View Villa, Riverton.

Born in Westville, Gene was a daughter of the Archie and Mary (Rankin) Canning.

She was an adherent of Sharon St. John United Church, Stellarton and a long time Associate Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 28, Stellarton.

A loving mother and grand mother, Gene will be dearly missed by her daughters, Lorie MacLean (Stephen Murphy), Stellarton; Sharon "Mary Faye" Gates, Truro; grand daughter Kimberly Ellen Mingo-Levert (Clayton), Halifax; grand son Eric Mingo, Hamilton; grand daughter, Kim Tanner (Amanda), Truro; great grand children, Violet and Victoria Levert and Summer Mingo; brothers, Chesley Canning (Doreen), Stellarton; and Russell Canning (Dorothy), Westville.

She was predeceased by husband, Eric Benvie MacLean; sisters, Hazel Stewart and Mary Baxter; brother Gordon Canning; sisters Hazel Stewart and Mary Baxter; 2 half brothers, George and Robert Ferguson and companion Larry Richard.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitations. A private family memorial service will be held at Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville with Rev. Anne Hoganson officiating. Interment will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. www.eaglesfuneralhome.ca
