Vida Sturgeon
STURGEON, VIDA - Mrs. Vida Helen (Coughlan) Sturgeon, wife of Hayward Sturgeon, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the age of 73. Born in Blackville, NB, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Nora Coughlan. She was a retail clerk for 25 years at the Met/Saan store, a member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church, and a ACW member. She belonged to various Mixed Bowling Leagues, in both Miramichi and Blackville. She is survived by her husband, Hayward; her daughter, Lorelei Sturgeon-Bell, (Brian); her son, Kendall Sturgeon (Lisa); her sisters, Noreen Sullivan of Grey Rapids; Freda (Keith) Greenhalgh of Calgary, Donna (Herb Barry) Curtis, Valerie (Leslie) Stewart, Pauline (Blaine) Underhill, Marilyn (Norman) Urquhart and special cousin/sister Vada (Fred) Curtis; her brothers, Cameron (Carolyn) Coughlan, Reginald (Claudia) Coughlan, Danny (Bev) Coughlan and Preston (Karen) Coughlan; granddaughter, Leslie Ann Clark and her special exchange granddaughter Rita Song.
Mrs. Vida Helen (Coughlan) Sturgeon rested at Davidson’s Funeral Home, 597 Old King George Hwy, with visitation on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. The funeral service was held on Tuesday, November 4th at 11 am at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Bushville conducted by Reverend Gordon Thompson assisted by Father Gerry Laskey and Deacons Teddy Quann and Sandy MacPherson. Readings were done by Brian Bell and Leslie Ann Clark. Organist, Janet Stothart accompanied the Church Choir in singing, “On Eagles Wings”, Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” and “10,000 Reasons”. Barbara Parsons and Richard Walsh sang “In The Garden.” Burial followed in the Holy Trinity Anglican Church Cemetery, Blackville. Active Pallbearers were her nephews: Paul McNabb, Barry McNabb, Ian Stewart, Morgan Stewart, Jamie Urquhart and Tom Sturgeon. Honorary Pallbearers were: Sam Shirley, Kevin Sturgeon, Derek Rowe, Fred Zamko, John Corney, Robert (Bob) Currie and Fred Curtis. In her memory, donations to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, Holy Trinity Anglican Church Perpetual Care Fund or the Miramichi Regional Hospital Palliative Care would be appreciated.
