Passed peacefully away on November 6th, three weeks after celebrating her 100th birthday, at the St. John's Long-Term Care Facility. Predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Mary Jane (Porter) Ellis, her siblings William, John, Sam, Ronald, Ches, Florence and Frank, her niece Joan Morgan and nephew Joseph Ellis. She leaves to mourn her grand-niece Trudy (Jason) Cole, great-grand-nephew and niece Christopher and Emma Cole, and nephew-by-marriage Donald Morgan, as well as a large circle of other nieces, nephews and extended family, many living in other parts of Canada and the United States. Her family would like to express gratitude to the staff of 3rd floor Southwest at the Long-Term Care Facility for their excellent care of Gertie, and to the faithful friends and church members who visited her regularly. Visitation will be held at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave., on Monday, November 10th, from 2-4p.m. and 7-9p.m., with a memorial service from Barrett's Chapel, 2PM on Tuesday, November 11th, 2014.
