The death occurred at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Wednesday, January 7, 2009, of Mrs. Mildred Gormley (nee Lund) of Charlottetown in her 91st year. Beloved wife of the late Laurie Gormley and dear mother of Frank (Eileen) of Victoria B.C., Florence (Harold) Surette of Cornwall, P.E.I., Linda (Charles) Hansen of Cornwall, John Gary (Linda) of Oshawa, Ont., Virginia (Tony) VanDerVelden of Shamrock, and Randy (Dianne) of Charlottetown. Mildred is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Dawn Gormley, Christine Gormley, Laura Campbell, Christopher Surette, Laura Hansen-Kohls, Charlotte Hansen, Jason Gormley, Justin Gormley, Kerry Ellen Nantes, Kelly Hogan, Andrea Savoie, Tyler Gormley; 14 grandchildren; her sister, Catherine “Kate” Flynn and special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Jim, Albert and Edward Lund, and her sisters, Margaret “Peggy” Lund, Alice MacIntyre and Helen Dowling. Resting at the Hennessey Funeral Home until 10:45 on Saturday morning, then transferred to St. Pius X Church, Charlottetown, for funeral mass at 11 a.m. Interment to take place later in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown. Visiting hours will be held today, Friday from 4-7 p.m. If so desired, memorial contributions in Mildred’s memory may be made to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation or the P.E.I.
