Anna Parks (MacDougall) was born in Flesherton, Ontario in 1945, and died peacefully in Halifax on November 10, 2014. Together with her husband Dave, she moved from Ontario to Upper Stewiacke, Nova Scotia in 1973, and quickly became involved in the community she loved so much. Throughout the decades she wore many hats - librarian, politician, volunteer, union organizer, adult educator, theology student, community economic development proponent and dog-lover, but she will most of all be missed as a central force of the Parks family. She was the beloved wife of 46 years to Dave Parks, and loving mother to David Parks (David MacIsaac) and Angus Parks (Farzana Parks). A fabulous grandmother to Jordan, Abdul Kareem, Timothy, Sulaiman and Baraka, she was predeceased by her father Peter MacDougall, her mother Minnie MacDougall (Richards) and her grandson Abdur Raheem Parks. Anna is survived by her brother Roderick MacDougall and many cousins, nieces, nephews and other family members. A woman of faith, Anna was a strong believer in life-long learning and constantly challenged herself, and others, to strengthen and sustain the communities in which we live. A celebration of Anna’s life will take place on Saturday, November 15th, at 2 p.m, at the Springside United Church in Upper Stewiacke. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Springside United Church, Fort Massey United Church or the Canadian Cancer Society.
