Beth MacQueen

Lieu de décès : Sydney
Date de décès : 11 novembre 2014

We are saddened to announce the death of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Beth MacQueen, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014.
Mom was the daughter of the late Chas and Phoebe (Tutty) MacDonald and the wife of the late Bernie MacQueen.
Left to mourn is her beloved companion, Mac Cameron. Also mourning are her children, Brenda (John Yhard), Cambridge, Ont., Linda (Bob Fortier), Sydney, Cyril (Rita Dowie), Sydney, Marybeth (Marc Ethier), Hampton, N.B. and Susan (Lindsey Rice), Halifax, and daughter-in-law, Kim MacQueen, Vancouver, B.C. Mom also leaves her grandchildren, Joey (Shawna), Kimberley (Jamie), Chantale (Sebastian), Jean Pierre (Liz), Rébécca (Jason), Charla (Dustin), Julie, Liam and Graham, as well as her great-grandchildren, Riley, Gracie, Emma, Nylah, Django, Alicia and Amelia. Mom is also survived by her sisters, Margaret Gould and Anne Richardson; brothers, Charles 'Junior' (Norma) and Robert 'Bob' MacDonald; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Bernie (1995) and son, Wayne (2012); sisters, Edith Hawco, Bertie Theriault, Abbie Wambolt and brothers, John 'Cubbie', Stephen, and Donald 'Tiny'.
Predeceased in infancy are sisters, Mary and Margaret and brothers, David and James MacDonald.
Throughout her life mom was an active volunteer quietly lending a hand where needed. She was a member of the Whitney Pier Seniors Club. She was proud to have been a founding member of the introduction of girls into the Boys and Girls Club of Sydney. Mom was a 50-year member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Branch 12 Legion. She loved to travel, do crafts, work in her garden and read. Mom always enjoyed shopping for a bargain with her sister, Anne and if it wasn’t a bargain, they bought it anyway. A perfect day would be a visit to Morrison Beach with Mac then coming home to watch one of God’s beautiful sunsets over the harbour.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Nov. 15 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Sydney Memorial Chapel. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at Holy Redeemer Church on Sunday, Nov. 16 at 2 p.m., with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. A reception will follow in the church, with burial at Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mom’s memory may be made to the Whitney Pier Youth Club, PO Box 806, Sydney, B1P 6J1.
