SAUNDERS, Maggie (nee Rose)– Passed peacefully away in the presence of her family on January 8, 2009 at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John’s, Maggie Saunders, age 87. Predeceased by her husband Eric James Saunders, April 25, 1981, her parents William and Elizabeth Rose and her brothers Melvin and Harry Rose. Leaving to mourn six children: Gerald (Alice), Yvonne Sinnott, Ruby Hiscock (John), Sylvia Knight (John), Ronald (Joy) and Gloria Robbins (Rick); her eleven grandchildren: Charmaine Hynes (Glenn), Annette Ruby (Robert), Keith Saunders (Sharon), John Hiscock (Reeni), Derrick Hiscock (Tina), Tanya Hapgood (Christopher), Scott Knight (Karen), Nicole Rowsell (Vaughn), Neil Saunders, Erica Robbins and James Robbins, as well as her fifteen great-grandchildren. Also leaving to mourn her brothers: Garfield Rose (Marie), Clifford Rose (Marion) and Fred Rose (Joy); her sisters: Dorcas Penney (Will, deceased) and Muriel Suley (Clarence, deceased); her sister-in-law Effie Rose, as well as many other relatives and friends, especially those at Kelly’s Brook Apartments, The Friday Friendship Club, The Seniors’ Resource Centre and Ron (Rosie) Cook’s Bus Tour Group. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, 7-9 p.m. on Saturday, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday and 10 a.m. to Noon on Monday. Funeral service Monday, January 12, 2009 at Barrett’s Chapel. Cremation to take place at Maggie’s request with interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
