Catherine 'Cathy' Veronica Tobin, 75, of Dartmouth, N.S. passed away Nov. 13, 2014, at the home of her daughter surrounded by her family.
Born in Bras d'Or, Cape Breton, she was the daughter of Sarah (Bell Robertson) Tobin and John Thomas Tobin.
Catherine worked in the food and beverage industry for over 30 years and later in life in home care providing comfort to others. She loved to be with her family heading to the beach, camping and traveling with her sister Yvonne to warm waters and sunny skies every winter.
She enjoyed bowling with her grandchildren when they were little and playing darts with her friends at the legion. She was a member of TOPS in Dartmouth and cherished the friendship and support of all its members. Over the last few years she swam regularly at both the Bedford and Sackville pools where her friends said she was the best swim talker in the pool.
What gave her the most joy was being with her family and sitting down to a "big feed" of lobster. Catherine devoted her life to her family and we will all miss that big beautiful smile and her laughter.
Survived by daughter Cindy D'Orsay and son-in-law Alastair Meux of Bedford and John (Ned) D'Orsay and daughter-in-law Cathy of Lower Sackville; sisters, Yvonne, Marilyn, Lorraine and Shirley; brothers, Lawrence, Garfield, Ronald; grandchildren, Thomas, Kristopher and Justin; great-grandchild, William.
She was predeceased by father, John Thomas, mother, Sarah and brothers, Elmer and Adrian.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr. A reception will be held at the funeral home following the service.
