STRUGNELL, JOHN ARTHUR - John Arthur Strugnell, 76, passed away peacefully at his residence, 77 Gorge Rd. on Saturday, November 15, 2014. John was born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Arthur and Georgina (Ricker) Strugnell. John will be sadly missed by his wife, Janet (Inglis), sons, Sean (Wendy), Chris (Natalie). John was beloved Papa to, Kaitlin and Abigail, Ethan and Claire and Emma. John's brothers, William and Richard are also left to mourn. John worked for Transport Canada for most of his career including several years as Airport Manager of the Moncton International Airport. After retirement, John moved on to consulting work in the airport and airlines industry, taking he and Janet to several offshore postings. As an avid golfer, curler, and sailor, John led an energetic and full life. John was always eager to volunteer his time to his community by serving on several committees and boards for the Moncton Montessori School, YMCA, Moncton Chamber of Commerce, and the Beaver Curing Club. In recent years, John devoted a lot of his time to several committees in Pointe du Chene. John was an incredible handy man "Mr. Fixit". John was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2009 and he soldiered on as best he could, while he could. In November 2012, John moved to ProTem, a private special Alzheimer's care home. His family wishes to extend its most sincere gratitude for the tremendous care and attention they afforded him. Staff demonstrated great compassion not only towards John, but also to Janet and she is especially grateful. The family wishes to thank all of their friends who supported John throughout his illness.
A Sharing of Memories/Celebration of Life reception will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home Reception Centre, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.
