Arthur Bernard Petrie, 70 years of Dartmouth died Nov. 20, 2014, after a brief illness. Born Dec. 1, 1943 in New Waterford he was a son of the late Arthur and Patricia (Prendergast) Petrie.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years the former Annette 'Netzie' (Gallant), son Douglas Aaron (Kelly), daughter Laura Katherine (Roddie), one brother David (Donna).
Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brothers Raymond and Paul.
Art enjoyed his extended family and friends. He worked in Toronto and Montreal for Stelco. Art and Annette moved their family to Dartmouth in 1988. He was especially proud of his limousine business until retirement in 2013.
The family is very grateful and would like to offer sincere thanks to the staff of QE II Neurology Ward 8.1 and ICU 5.2 for their compassion and care during Art’s illness. Visitation will be 6-8:30 p.m. today (Monday, Nov. 24, 2014) in Dartmouth Funeral Home, 29 Queen St. Funeral Liturgy will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014, in St. John 23rd. Roman Catholic Church, 35 Colby Dr., Colby Village, Fr. Irek Bem, celebrant. A reception will follow in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Boy’s and Girl’s Club of East Dartmouth, IWK Children’s Hospital or a charity of choice.
