DOUCETTE, Richard Laurent - 69, Wedgeport, Yarmouth Co., passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, November 22, 2014. Born April 16, 1945 in Wedgeport, he was a son of the late Laurent and Tracey (Pothier) Doucette. Richard was a retired fisherman, and was currently working at helping other fishermen with their gear, always ready to lend them a hand whenever they needed it. It is worth mentioning that Richard enjoyed his time with the local “Fishermen’s Liars Club”! He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 6505 Wedgeport and loved bluefish and mackerel fishing. He was also a big fan of Nascar and the Montreal Canadiens. He is survived by his children, Troy (Vanessa) Doucette, Wedgeport; Tracy (Marcel) d’Entremont, Lower West Pubnico and Jordan (Alison) Doucette, Wedgeport, as well as by six loving grandchildren, Caleb and Callie Doucette, Jenna and Joel d’Entremont, Nathan and Aria Doucette. Also surviving are sisters, Phyllis (Willie) Pothier, Yarmouth, Dot (Donnie) Pinner, Acradia, and a brother, Dennis (Debbie) Doucette, Wedgeport. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Annette L. (Pero) Doucette. Visitation took place from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, with prayers at 8 p.m., both at H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Wedgeport. The funeral mass was held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 26 from Saint Michael’s Catholic Church, Wedgeport, Father Albeni d’Entremont officiated. Interment followed in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Tri-County Site of the VON or to the IWK Hospital Foundation.
