ALEXANDER “SANDY” DAVID DUTHIE
March 19, 1934 – November 20, 2014
Sandy passed away peacefully at the Olds, AB hospital, surrounded by his family on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at the age of 80 years. He is survived by and will be lovingly remembered and cherished by his wife Eleanor (Schaffer) Duthie; children Randy, Doug (June), Darcy (Debbie), Janice (Cliff) and Dean; two sisters Isabelle and Toots; grandchildren: Adam, Shane, TJ, Erin, Kent, Steve, Jason, Lindsey, Cheryl, Greg, Alexis and Dustin; great-grandchildren: Gunner, Morgan, Avlinh, Ayden, Delilah and Rozlyne; and many in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. Sandy is predeceased by his parents David and Euphimea (O’Neil) Duthie, of Scotland and Ireland respectfully; brothers and sisters Mary, John, Nell, Jean, Bob, Jim, Ruff, Charlie and David; his grandson Gordie Kiteley and daughter-in-law Kris (Pedersen) Duthie. Sandy and Eleanor’s 59th Wedding Anniversary was respectfully noted on Wednesday, November 19th, 2014. Sandy was a Butcher by trade for over thirty years, he took pride in his career. He taught his children and grandchildren about his trade, making sausage and how to butcher. He loved gatherings with his family and friends, story telling, curling, playing horseshoes, bar-b-cueing or baking his famous ribs. His hometown of Creelman, Sask. for family reunions and the annual fair. He was always there to lend a helping hand. A service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 27th, 2014 at the Heartland Funeral Home in Olds, AB. If friends and family so desire memorial tributes may be made directly to the Hear t& Stoke Foundation and/or the Lung Association of their choice.
