REDDEN, Emily “Irene” (Culleton) - of Windsor, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and so much love, at Arbourstone Enhanced Care, Halifax, on Saturday, November 22, 2014, at the age of 82. Irene was born in Summerside, PEI, on August 20, 1932, and was the daughter of the late James and Patricia Culleton. While working at CFB Summerside, she met and married her husband, Ervin, from there they moved to CFB Goose Bay and then to CFB Downsview, Toronto. When military life was over, she and her family moved to Windsor. Irene will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She truly was a very special little lady who loved to laugh. She was so proud of her grandchildren and made sure she was always there to give advice on one thing or another. It might have been birthing advice to her granddaughters, or career advice to her grandsons, but she was always ready to sit and listen to anything they wanted to talk about. She saw each of them in a positive light and heaven forbid if you were to say something against any of them. She would knit for hours while watching hockey or curling to ensure we all had dishcloths and slippers. She was a lover of the famous “Nanburger - no pickles, no onions” and always thought it was pretty special when the grandchildren would show up with one for her. Irene was gracious, kind, gentle and grateful for everything you did for her. She was such a pleasant lady, who never asked for anything. She worked many years in admitting at the Payzant Memorial Hospital in Windsor, Edgehill School for Girls and then with A.G. MacDonald Barristers. Irene will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Patti (Peter) Seaward, Dartmouth; sons, Greg (Linda) and Darby (Glenda) of Windsor; as well as her grandchildren, Ryan Seaward; Dartmouth; Gillian Seaward-Boone (Jonathan), Dartmouth; Laura (Joel) Isenor, Enfield; James Redden, Windsor; Sarah (Shane) Naugle, Chateau Village; Evan (Kaitlyn Worth) Redden, Falmouth; and her four great grandchildren, Raleigh Boone, Cash Naugle, Cam Isenor and Lucas Redden. Irene is also survived by her two sisters, Shirley Lampman, Caistor Centre, Ont.; Betty Bradley, Calgary, Alta; her brother, Clarence, Summerside, PEI. She was predeceased by husband of 55 years, Ervin Alvin Redden (2007); her sons, Dennis (1962); Steven (1978); and her mother, Patricia Culleton (1986). The family would like to acknowledge and thank Heather Voegeil, Melissa LaPierre and the Staff of 3rd floor, Arbourstone Enhanced Care who took such good care of her everyday over these past months. Cremation was under the care of Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home (902-798-2232) 194 King Street, P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, B0N 2T0. A private family graveside service was held 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor. Rev. Bill Gibson officiated. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Irene were requested to be made to 3rd Floor, Arbourstone Enhanced Care, 126 Purcells Cove Road, Halifax, NS, B3P 1B5.
