Rudolf (Rudi) Schultz, age 68, of Herbert, SK, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, November 18, 2014. Rudi was born on January 29, 1946, at Herbert, SK, to Jacob & Frieda Schultz. Rudi was raised on the family farm, 10 miles northeast of Herbert. He first attended a rural school and then finished his education in Herbert. Rudi had a strong passion for farming and worked for Jack & Bonnie Hamm for 30 plus years. Rudi and his older brother, Firmin, went into custom combining business which also included going to USA. Rudi loved attending the local brandings, to sample food and visit. He also liked going to local auction sales to buy collectibles. Rudi always offered you a big smile when he saw you and his genuine chuckles came easily. Rudi struggled with his health for the last few years. Rudi was predeceased by his father, Jacob, 1970; and by his mother, Frieda, 2003. He is survived by his brother, Firmin Schultz, of Herbert, SK.
The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 2:00 pm from the Herbert Mennonite Brethren Church, Herbert, SK with Pastor Ed Schmidt officiating. The pianist for the service was Cindy Mathies. “Amazing Grace” and “Shall We Gather at the River” were sung by the congregation under the direction of Henry Braun. The tribute and obituary was brought by Jack Hamm. The ushers in the church were Charles Donnelley and Ron Mathies. Honorary Pallbearers were “All of Rudi’s Friends”. The Interment preceded the Funeral Service and was held at the Herbert Cemetery, Herbert, SK. In memory of Rudi Schultz, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
