SYMS, Lucy Ellen, nee Branton – Passed away at the Agnes Pratt Home on Sunday, January 4, 2009, at the age of 94, formerly of Toronto and Thornlea. She is predeceased by her husband John (Johnny), parents William and Suzanna Branton, sisters: Charlotte (Lottie) Newhook, Elizabeth (Lizzie) Bennett, brothers: James (Jim) Branton, Caleb Branton, Ernest Branton and James (Jim) Newhook. Leaving to mourn two brothers: Gordon (Mary) Branton of Thornlea and William (Billy) (Marie) Branton of Stephenville; four sisters: Mary Smith of Mount Pearl (formerly of Normans Cove), Mildred Bonnell of St. John’s, Pearl Garrington of Stouffville, Ontario and Effie Thompson of Rome, New York. Special niece Florence (Vince) Pike of St. John’s and great-niece Pamela Pike (Stephen Binz) of Baton Rough, Louisiana, also a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Our appreciation is expressed to the staff at Agnes Pratt Home, especially the Team on Pratt Place for their caring and compassionate professionalism during her 8-month stay. Cremation has already taken place. A memorial service celebrating her life will take place at a date to be announced.
