Dorothy Thorne

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Dorothy Thorne announces her passing on Wednesday November 26 at Dr. Charles L Legrow Health Center at the age of 94 years. Born in Burnt Islands, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Eloil and Isabella (nee King) Caines. She was also predeceased by her husband Ralph Thorne on February 12, 1984, her son Garland on October 16, 2005, sisters; Ida, Susan, Joyce, Elizabeth, Ellen, brothers; George, Edgar, Kenneth, son in law Russell Hardy. Leaving to mourn with many fond and precious memories her loving family; only daughter Ruth Hardy, grandchildren; Garland Hardy (Kimberely), Derek Hardy (Roxanne), Marvin Hardy (Velda), Crystal Chant (Ray), Garland Thorne (Carla), Gloria Dorion (Mike). Great grandchildren; Melanie, Lesley, Kayla, Dana, Russell, Nikita, DJ, Jasmine, Jonathon, great, great granddaughter Isabella. Sister Minnie (Walter) Hayman, daughter in law Hilda Thorne and a large circle of nieces, nephews and many friends. In Keeping with Dorothy’s' wishes cremation has taken place. The family received friends at her family residence in Burnt Islands on Saturday and Sunday from where the funeral service took place on Monday December 1, 2 PM officiated by Mr. Mike Fitzgerald. Interment followed at the Jehovah's Witness Cemetery, Burnt Islands. Memorial donations can be made to the charity of one's choice.
