Peacefully at the Western Hospital, Alberton, on Tuesday, December 2, 2014, with his family by his side, of Thomas Charles “Tom” Barbour, of 233 Poplar Street, Alberton, age 80 years. Beloved husband to Joan (Griffin) Barbour. Born at Alberton on April 18, 1934, he was the son of the late Hilton Sr. and Vivian Ellen (Profit) Barbour. Dear father to Randy, daughter-in-law Danalee and loving grandfather to Tylan. He is survived by sister Frances Anne of Summerside, nieces Mary Ellen (Darcy) Rennie of Alma and Carol Ann Shaw. He was predeceased by a brother Hilton Jr., brothers-in-law Abbie and Allan Griffin. Survived by brother and sisters-in-law: Lee and Kay Griffin, Elsie Griffin, Peter and Ann Gaudet, Roy and Beth Griffin and Elizabeth and Richard Oliver. Tom served as Postmaster with Canada Post for 31 years.Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton, with visitation on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral will be held from the funeral home on Friday morning at 10 a.m., Pastor Sheila McCrea-MacCallum officiating. Interment in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. If so desired, memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
