We regret to announce the passing of Virginia Mary Pike, which occurred at An Cala, on Dec. 2, 2014, surrounded by her loving family after a short courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Salvador and Marie (Camus) Pino.
A devout Catholic, Virginia was a member of Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church. She enjoyed, going to bingo with her friends, and volunteered with the Multicultural Society of Sydney with her longtime friend The Reverend Vincent Waterman. Virginia was very loving and her home was always open to her many friends and people in need, she was well known for her excellent cooking, especially every Sunday when she hosted her family spaghetti dinner; no one ever left hungry after visiting Virginia’s home.
She will be forever missed by her loving husband of 54 years, George; daughters, Paulette (Danny), Annette (Rick), both of Sydney; Alana (Fauzie), Libya; sons, Joseph (Terri), Blacketts Lake, Edward (Michelle), North Sydney; Robert (Roxanne), Sydney; 27 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret, Germane, Cecilia, Rose, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her grandson, Sala of Libya; brothers, Americo, Mario, Tony, Johnny, Joseph; sisters, Rita, Frances, Adeline and Matilda
A heartfelt thanks to Dr. Buhariwalla, Dr. Dougas, the palliative care staff of 4E and Dr. D’Intino.
Resting in Sydney Memorial Chapel on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be offered Saturday at 10 a.m. from Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church, Whitney Pier with Rev. Paul Murphy presiding.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County.
