AMIRAULT, Wilfred James – age 88, Hibernia Street, Yarmouth, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born October 8, 1926 in Tusket, he was a son of the late Martin and Mary Jane (Muise) Amirault. Wilfred worked as a scallop fisherman, having also worked at Cosmos Imperial Mills and as a carpenter. He was a member of Saint Ambrose Cathedral Parish, Yarmouth, where he had served as an usher for many years, as well as having served as a member of the parish council. He also served as the president of Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Yarmouth. In his spare time, he loved working in his garden. He is survived by daughters, Mavis (David) Grantley, Yarmouth and Carmen Saulnier, Brooklyn; grandchildren, Norman Grantley, Holly Harris, Courtney Vezina, Mallory Palmer, Baylee Saulnier, Abbey Saulnier, as well as three great grandchildren and a brother, Edgar (Sandra) Amirault, Brooklyn. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Jessie (Burke) Amirault, as well as by a son, Charles Amirault, and sisters, Frances Murphy, Lillian Barnes, Janet Bourque and Marion Doucette. Visitation will take place at H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral mass will be held at St. Ambrose Cathedral, Yarmouth, on Wednesday, December 10 at 2:00 p.m., Father Gerald David officiating. Interment will take place in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Yarmouth, followed by a reception in the Jubilee Room (downstairs at St. Ambrose Cathedral).
