FITZGERALD, Doris – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dearest mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Doris Fitzgerald, on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Villa St-Joseph-du-Lac, Dayton. Doris was born in Comeau’s Hill on August 21, 1920, having lived to the amazing age of 94. She was the daughter of Samuel and Rebecca “Becky” (Fitzgerald) Jacquard. Doris is survived by daughters, Helen (Everett) Lafitte, Lower Sackville; Marie (John) Pothier, West Pubnico; Sandra (Steve, deceased) Boudreau, Yarmouth, and a son, Robert (Edith) Fitzgerald, Comeau’s Hill, as well as grandchildren, Denene, Lee, Todd, Shawn, Jennifer, Trina and 11 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Flossie Saulnier, Theresa Harris and brothers, Bernard Jacquard and Lawrence Jacquard. She was predeceased by her husband, Melford Fitzgerald; sisters, Viola, Rose and Mary, as well as brothers, Thomas, Ernest, Earl and Frank. Visitation took place at H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday. The funeral mass was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 8 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Melbourne, Father Gerald David officiated. Interment took place in Saint Gabriel’s Cemetery, Comeau’s Hill. Charitable donations in Doris’s memory may be made to Saint Gabriel’s Cemetery Fund or to a charity of one’s choice. We, the family, would like to thank all of the staff at Villa St-Joseph-du-Lac and Dr. Webster for the loving care and comfort they brought to our mother.
