Thelma Jones
JONES, THELMA - Thelma Irene Jones, 99, formerly of Deerville, N.B., died peacefully at Hartland’s Central Carleton Nursing Home, on Monday, December 8, 2014. Thelma was born in Wilmot, N.B., on September 23, 1915, to the late William and Georgie Lawrence. Thelma is survived by her daughter, Sheila McKim, and her granddaughter, Lindsay McKim, and by her niece, Judith Clossey (Harold, deceased) and her nephew, Kenneth Gardiner (Carol). Thelma was predeceased by her husband, Rev. Clifford D. Jones, and her sister, Madeline McKim. In 1944, Thelma married the love of her life, Cliff. The two were very happily married for 31 years, until Cliff’s death in 1975. She and Cliff owned a service station in Lakeville, N.B., for which Thelma drove the tow truck. After Cliff’s ordination as a minister, they served in several pastorates, including St. Andrews, N.B., McKees Mills, N.B., and East Wolfville, N.S. Thelma was an excellent gardener. Her other interests included birds, scenery, and reading. She was also a member of the Red Cross and WMS. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and her many friends, spanning several generations. Thelma was a very caring person, who made good friends wherever she went. She will be dearly missed, but her family takes comfort in the fact that she has finally been reunited with her soul mate, Cliff.
By request there will be no visitation. Funeral service for Thelma will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 1PM from the Lakeville Baptist Church Lakeville NB. Interment will be held in the Lakeville Cemetery at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Lakeville Cemetery Fund or to a memorial of the donor’s choice.
