
Agnes Phillips
PHILLIPS, AGNES C. - With heavy hearts the family of Agnes C. Phillips (Boyle) announces her passing on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at the age of 96. Born in Waasis, NB on May 24, 1918 she was the daughter of John and Alice (Carney) Boyle. Agnes leaves behind, in the hopes of seeing again, her children, Madeline (Jack) Campbell, James (Linda) Phillips, Fredericton, Eugene (Jeanne) Phillips, Verna Phillips, Rusagonis. Grandchildren, Krista Campbell, Ottawa, John (Tina) Campbell Rothesay, Tiffany Campbell, Ottawa, Christian (Le) Steele Airdrie, AB, Travis and Cassandra Phillips, Fredericton. Great-grandchildren, Curtis, Chelsey, Josh, Roman, Maddline, Mekenzie, Kaden. Sisters, Mary and Mabel Boyle, Vera (Donald) Doucette, Fredericton. Brothers-in-law Earl (Clara) Phillips, Edison (Lois) Phillips, Fredericton. Besides her parents Agnes was predeceased by Wilbert, her husband of 51 years, sisters Greta Grasse, Serena Boyle, Loretta Kaley, brothers Maurice, John, Charles, Frederick and James Boyle. Brothers-in-law Everett Grasse, Wendell Kaley, sisters-in-law Vera Hayward, Nellie Clarke, Annie Phillips. During her lifetime Agnes was a long standing member of St. Vincent De Paul Roman Catholic Church, Oromocto and Sts John and Paul Roman Catholic Church, New Maryland, The Rusagonis Station Women's Institute, CWL, Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxillary, The Rusagonis/Waasis Heritage Society, TOPS and Forever Young (affectionately referred to by Wilbert as the "Wrinkle Club"). She loved to quilt and together with her daughter Verna and fellow quilters in the community made many beautiful quilts that her family will treasure and enjoy for many years to come. Agnes was a great story teller and will be remembered by some of her grandchildren for her tales of "when I was a young lady down on the farm". Agnes loved her family and in her day would have everyone out for many home cooked meals topping each one off with a piece of homemade pie, lemon meringue her speciality. She loved to make pickles in the fall and share them as gifts. She enjoyed her home in Rusagonis taking pride in the inside and out. Agnes shared many joys with her family and friends and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Visitation will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home on Sunday, December 21 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 22 at 2 PM from Saint Vincent De Paul Roman Catholic Church, Oromocto. Interment at a later date.
