Bernice Elizabeth Woolbert

(Fleet) 'Bonnie' or 'Bun' to all of us, born 8/12/1938 in St John's, Newfoundland, Canada, passed on to the gates of Heaven on 3/15/2008 in Merritt Island, Florida. Bonnie was born to John and Eileen Fleet in St John's and was one of fifteen children. A student of Presentation Convent High School, Bonnie's life began extraordinarily coming from such a large and loving family. Her loyal character and vibrant personality were molded from this familial foundation like a finished product from her father's metal shop near Water Street. In 1955 Bonnie met a 'Yank' named James 'Jim' Woolbert, and in July 1956 they were married at St. John's Basilica. Soon Bonnie and Jim were off to see the world on the wings of the U.S. Air Force. Expanding on her extraordinary life, Bonnie and Jim lived all over the world, to include Germany, Japan, Turkey and several U.S. locations, ultimately settling down in Florida in 1974. During 'Her' Air Force career, Bonnie became trained as a dental assistant and after Jim retired from the Air Force, Bonnie continued her work in the field of dentistry for another 20 years. Bonnie loved to play golf, to work in the garden with her flowers, and to cook. She was a perfect wife and loyal and dedicated mother. Her family was blessed by her endless love and constant support. In a word, she was magnificent. Bonnie is survived by her husband of 51 years, Jim; their three sons, their wives, and five grandchildren. Bonnie is further survived, some in posthumous favour by her brothers: John and wife Doris of St. John's (both deceased), Cyril of Bay Bulls, Bill and his wife Marge of St John's, Kevin of St. John's (deceased), Leo and wife Carol of Cambridge, Ontario, Leonard and wife Maria of Cambridge, Ontario; and her sisters: Mary and her husband Brendon (deceased) Janes of St. John's, Eileen and her husband William (deceased) Walsh of St. John's, Lorraine and her husband Vince Hogan of Northern Bay, Violet and her husband Gerald Mallard of Cambridge, Ontario, Helen and her husband Wally (deceased) Pottle of St. John's, Florence and her husband Ernest Jahn of Lebanon, Pennsylvania, and Teresa and her husband Ronald Chafe of Bay Bulls. The Woolbert family would also like to pay remembrance to Helen's first husband, Edgar Bishop, who's whimsical nature and ever-present musical shows entertained all of us for so many years.
