GREEN, JOHN - 1937 - 2014 - John Green of Riverview, NB, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2014 at The Moncton Hospital. Born in Winterton, NL, he was the son of the late Pierce and Winnifred Green. John began his career in 1956 with the US Air Force in Goose Bay, NL. He was later employed as Fire Chief with Airport Services in Deer Lake, NL and retired from Transport Canada Moncton in 1997. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, cross country skiing and spending time with family and friends at his camp in Beersville. John was an active member of St. Paul’s United church where he served on the Board of Trustees and was involved in their recent expansion. He is survived by his loving wife Joan (Bursey); daughter, Sharon Green; sons, Ray (Donna McEwen), both of Riverview, John Jr. (Debra) of Amherst, NS; son-in-law, Guy of Riverview; sisters, Bessie Locke of Labrador City, NL, Margaret Rossiter (the late Fred) of Carbonear, NL; brothers, Max (Judy) of Grand Falls, NL, Ern (Faith) of St. John’s, NL and Dan (Helen) of Carbonear, NL; grandchildren, Jennifer, Alyson, Jarrett, Amanda, Haley, Nicholas, Sarah, Kristin and Jordan. Besides his parents, John was predeceased by a daughter, Jackie Bourque, in November 2014.
The family will be receiving friends and relatives at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd., Riverview (869-2007) on Sunday from 1 to 4pm. A service celebrating John’s life will take place from St. Paul’s United Church (Cleveland Ave. Riverview) on Monday, December 29, 2014 at 1:00pm with Rev. Steve Berube and Rev. Andy O’Neill officiating. Donations made to a memorial of donor’s choice or St. Paul’s United Church would be greatly appreciated by the family.
