George Pius MacLellan

George Pius MacLellan

Lieu de naissance : Meat Cove
Date de naissance : 3 mars 1939

Date de décès : 27 décembre 2014

As we mourn the passing of our Dad and Poppy, we will remember his stories, his sense of humour, and his love of the sea, which was only surpassed by the love he had for his family.
Born in Meat Cove, he was the youngest of the late Simon George & Marcella (MacEachern) MacLellan’s children. George entered the work force at early age, fishing with his father. He worked many days as a lighthouse keeper, miner, and trail blazer, but his true passion always brought him back to the sea. He often said that the ocean was where he felt closest to God.
George is survived by the mother of his children, Danena MacKinnon; his children, Anna, Chris, Tammy (James Campbell), Robert (Deidre) and Darrell (Tracy); his grandchildren, Adele, Ricky, Kyle, Megan, Johnny, Becky, Justin, Quentin and Frankie; his numerous great-grandchildren; his sisters, Janet Sisson and Lorraine Fraser (Archibald) and his nephew, Derrick, whom he loved like a brother.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Ricky; son-in-law, Paul Buchanan; his sisters, Flora MacLellan, Bessie Fraser, Catherine Chamberlain, Marcella MacLeod, Veronica Fraser, Margaret MacIsaac and Emma Hines, and his brothers, D.A, Allan, Hector, Francis and Kelly.
You will be greatly missed for your stories, your advice, your card hands, and your humour. As we mourn your passing we will also celebrate, as we know there is a joyful reunion with your family and friends who have gone before you.
Visitation will be held in Meat Cove, at the Welcome Centre, on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014, from 7-9 p.m., and Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral mass will be held on Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, at 11 a.m. in St. Margaret’s of Scotland Church, with Fr. Jake Andrea officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Margaret’s Cemetery.
Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com.
Crossing The Bar
Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;
For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.
-Alfred Lord Tennyson
