1954 - 2014. Passed peacefully away at Carbonear General Hospital on December 28, 2014, Joseph Ramsay Smallwood II, formerly of Roaches Line, aged 60 years. Predeceased by grandparents Joseph and Clara Smallwood, parents Ramsey and Florence Smallwood (Boone), step-mother Mabel Smallwood (Mugford) and brother-in-law Hugh Atkinson. Leaving to mourn: wife Wynette Smallwood (Tucker); sons: Joseph (Tracy) Smallwood and Phillip Smallwood; step-daughters Adrienne and Lauren Deering; sisters: Josephine Smallwood, Lorraine (Randy) Keefe and Jane Atkinson; brothers: Ramsay (Leah) Smallwood and Bruce (Jane) Smallwood; grandchildren: Joey and Matthew. In his own words, Joe was first and foremost a chicken farmer. As a successful businessman Joe had interests in Russwood Poultry, Smallwood Farms, as well as Strawberry Hill Inn and Chalets. However his greatest success and of which he was very proud, was his family, especially his sons and step-daughters. One of Joe's inspirations was his grandfather, the first premier of Newfoundland and Labrador and his namesake. Resting at Moore's Funeral Home, Clarke's Beach with visitation on Monday, December 29, 2014 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday, December 30, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral service will take place from St. Luke's Anglican Church, Port de Grave on Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at the United Cemetery, Roaches Line. Flowers respectfully accepted or in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe's memory to the Trinity Conception Placentia Health Care Foundation.
