Passed away peacefully at the age of 101 at the Interfaith Long-term care Home in Carbonear on December 22nd, 2014, Mary Blanche Stockwood of Gull Island. Pre-deceased by her loving husband Gideon, and son Robert. Blanche was a devoted homemaker and an avid gardener of flowers and vegetables. She was a faithful church goer who played church organ for over 50 years. She was the rock of the family and assisted our Dad by working beside him in the fishery. She was told many times that she could salt fish better than any man in Gull Island! We’ll miss her deeply. Left to mourn, sons, Leslie (Shirley), Ray (Beverly), Harold (Rose-Marie), daughters Jean Mansbridge (Jim-deceased), Marie Whalen (Boyd), Carol Villemaire (Yves); grandchildren Gary, Terry, Gail, Kim, Bonnie, Blaine, Brad, Melissa, Marc and Natalie; 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Rested at Noel’s Funeral Home, Western Bay. Rev. Jim Von Riesen conducted the funeral service on Sunday, December 28 from Memorial United Church, Burnt Point.
