WINSOR, Robert Mercer (Merce) 1920-2009– Passed peacefully away on Sunday, January 11, 2009 at Chancellor Park, at the age of 88. Predeceased by his parents Herbert and Bertha Winsor, older brother Frank, sister Violet Winsor, nephew Danny Freeman and brother-in-law Frank Freeman. Leaving to mourn with many fond and loving memories are his sisters: Marjorie Freeman and Ruth Sparkman; brother-in-law Louis Sparkman; nephews: Geoffrey (Mary) Freeman and their son Jamie, Gregory (Beverly) Sparkman, Stephen (Georyl) Sparkman and their daughters: Kristen and Meghan and niece Mary Ruth (Rick) Mashmann and their children: Ana, Andrew and Alaina, Uncle Ralph Best and Aunt Nettie Reid; other family and friends, too numerous to name, share our loss. Merce was a kind and gentle man which was obvious to everyone who knew him. He will be dearly missed. Merce worked all of his adult life as a general contractor, first with his father’s company H. Winsor and Son, and then on his own. The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff at Chancellor Park for their continuous, kind and loving care. Visitation will take place at Barrett’s Funeral home, Hamilton Ave. Tuesday from 7-9 p.m., Wednesday 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at 2 p.m. from Barrett’s Funeral Home, Hamilton Ave., St. John’s.
