Caldwell, Joseph Nelson - It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father, husband, grandfather and great-grandfather, Joe, age 81 of St. Croix, who passed away December 28, 2014 in the Hants Community Hospital. Born in St. Croix, NS, on October 13, 1933, he was the son of the late Chauncey Caldwell and Sarah (Whiting). He was predeceased by his brothers Gerald, Chauncey (Jr.), Duke and Arnold; sisters Iris Lowe (Cliff) and Gwen Paige. Joe joined the Canadian Army in 1952; however, after one year, he had to be medically discharged. He then worked for Nova Scotia Power for 13 years. Joe ended his working career doing what he loved, mechanic work and truck driving. Left to mourn, with fond and loving memories, are his loving wife of 58 years Kathleen (Woodman); daughters Cathy Lavers (Windsor), Carol Anne Moore (Ricky) Windsor, Annette Patterson (Lloyd Eldridge) Falmouth; sons Terry (Kentville), Michael (Karen) Avonport, Brian (Laura) Three Mile Plains, Sheldon (Christine) Vaughans, Kevin (Halifax); brother Garnet (Karen Eldridge), McKay Section; sister-in-law Paula; brother-in-law Charles Woodman (Coldbrook), also 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In keeping with Joe's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe's memory can be made to Alzheimer's Society. The family extends a thank you to the nurses and doctors at the Hants Community Hospital for the special care Joe received.
