It is with broken hearts that we the family announce the passing of Ken Bishop on Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, at the Northside Community Guest Home, North Sydney.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late William and Irene (Watts) Bishop.
Ken was employed at the Canada Post retiring after 39 years. Ken was a member of St. Mark's parish, Coxheath and later St. Alban's parish, Whitney Pier. He was a member of St. Andrew's Lodge of Cape Breton # 7. Ken enjoyed driving his ATV and skating.
Kenneth is survived by his loving wife, Donna (King) Bishop, sister, Gwen Coughlan, Red Deer, Alta., brothers, Don (Lorna) Bishop, Glace Bay, Bill (Cynthia) Bishop, Ontario, brothers-in-law, Jim King, Florida, David (Phyllis) King, Florence, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Margaret MacInnis, sister-in-law, Anne King, brother-in-law, Jim 'ER' Coughlan.
Visitation will take place Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. A Masonic service will be held at 6:45 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held on 11 a.m.Thursday, Jan. 8 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Brenda Drake officiating. Committal prayers will follow at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens in the chapel.
