An Alzheimer’s Poem, Author Unknown
Do not ask me to remember;
Don’t try to make me understand.
Let me rest and know you’re with me;
Kiss my cheek and hold my hand.
I am confused beyond all concept;
I feel alone, so sad and lost.
All I know is that I need you
To be with me at all cost.
Please don’t lose your
patience with me;
Never scold, please; do not cry.
I don’t understand the way I’m acting;
I can’t be different, although I try.
Just remember that I need you,
For my essence is not gone.
Please don’t fail to stand beside me;
Love me until my life is done.
“I did.”
